WattIndex Open Dataset
The H1 2026 data behind this site, published as free CSV and JSON downloads under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Household and business electricity and gas prices for Europe, one row per country and consumer type, exactly as published by Eurostat, with no values altered, interpolated or filled in. A blank price means Eurostat holds no figure for that country, band and period.
What is in the package
- wattindex-electricity-prices-h1-2026.csv and .json
- Electricity prices for H1 2026 (period 2026-S1), household and business headline bands, one row per country and consumer type, including the EU-27 and euro area aggregates. Household: Eurostat nrg_pc_204, band DC (2,500 to 4,999 kWh per year), all taxes and levies included, 39 countries. Business: Eurostat nrg_pc_205, band IC (500 to 1,999 MWh per year), excluding VAT and other recoverable taxes, 38 countries (Kosovo has no business figure published for H1 2026).
- wattindex-gas-prices-latest.csv and .json
- Natural gas prices for the latest period Eurostat holds (H1 2026), household and business headline bands, one row per country and consumer type, including the EU-27 and euro area aggregates. Household: Eurostat nrg_pc_202, band D2 (20 to 199 GJ per year), all taxes and levies included, 30 countries. Business: Eurostat nrg_pc_203, band I3 (10,000 to 99,999 GJ per year), excluding VAT and other recoverable taxes, 31 countries. Gas prices are given per GJ and per kWh; Eurostat converts at 1 GJ = 277.778 kWh. Gas is published in the dataset ahead of any gas pages on the site.

Columns, coverage and cadence
- Columns
- country_code (Eurostat geo code, for example DE, FR, EU27_2020), country (country name in English), consumer_type (household or business), dataset (the Eurostat dataset the row comes from), band_code, band and band_label (the consumption band and its range), tax_basis_code (I_TAX or X_VAT) and tax_basis (what the code means, in words), period (Eurostat half-year code, 2026-S1 means the first half of 2026) and period_label, price_eur_per_kwh / price_eur_per_gj (the price in euro), price_pps_per_kwh / price_pps_per_gj (the same price in PPS, purchasing power standards; blank where Eurostat publishes no PPS figure for that cell).
- Coverage notes
- The United Kingdom has no Eurostat figures after H1 2020 and Ukraine none after H1 2021, in both electricity and gas. Gas coverage is smaller than electricity coverage because several countries have no meaningful household gas market in the Eurostat collection: Finland reports no household gas prices at all, Poland’s household gas series ends at H2 2023, and Cyprus, Iceland, Malta, Montenegro, Norway and Kosovo do not appear in the gas datasets. Albania’s only household gas values in Eurostat are 0.0 EUR/GJ for 2021 and H1 2022; they are reproduced as published but should not be read as a real price.
- Update cadence
- Eurostat publishes these price collections twice a year: H1 figures (January to June) usually appear in the autumn of the same year and H2 figures the following spring. This package is refreshed after each Eurostat release, and the file names are updated with the new period at the same time. The electricity files were retrieved from Eurostat on 5 November 2026 and the gas files on 6 November 2026.
